Fall Meeting Highlights

Here are members of the Illinois Elks Children’s Care Corporation board of directors for 2018-19. The IEA, at its fall meeting in Springfield, honored Metropolis 1428 and Brookfield 1510 lodges for winning first and second place, respectively, for net gain in membership in 2017-18. Then-IEA President Dave Jurmu recognized Metropolis Exalted Ruler Lyndall Qualls, left photo, and Brookfield ER Vicki Rolewicz, right photo, on behalf of their lodges. Metropolis posted a 13.6 percent membership increase, and was awarded $500.Brookfield had a 13.2 percent membership increase and won $250.
The IEA, at its fall meeting in Springfield, honored Dixon police officer Mark Dallas (holding plaque) who was praised as a hero for intervening when a former student opened fire at Dixon High School in May. Dallas, the school resource officer, was recognized at the dinner highlighting the meeting in September. He received accolades from IEA President Tom Deien, Dixon Lodge Secretary Sharon Kay Dirck and Grand Secretary Bryan Klatt.
Sharon Seibert of Fairview Heights Lodge 664 receives the 2017-18 IEA Family of the Year plaque on behalf of the Mike and Theresa Barrington family. She received the plaque from 2017-18 IEA President Dave Jurmu and Grand Secretary Bryan Klatt.
Centralia Lodge 493 Secretary Joe Ray was honored as the 2017-18 IEA Secretary of the Year. With him are 2017-18 IEA President Dave Jurmu and Grand Secretary Bryan Klatt.
IEA Webmaster Craig Smith, accompanied by IEA President Tom Deien, displays the plaque for winning the 2017-18 Grand Lodge Four Star Award for the IEA website. He received the award at the IEA fall meeting in Springfield.
Newsette Editor Joe Baker displays the plaque for winning the 2017-18 Grand Lodge Five Star Award on behalf of the Illinois Elks Publication Corporation, which publishes the Newsette. He received the award from IEA President Tom Deien, left, and Grand Secretary Bryan Klatt. The award was the corporation’s 11th Five Star Award since 2002-03. (It did not apply for the award in 2013-14 through 2016-17.)
